Generally, the author said there was fierce competition between the Democratic party and the Republican party, the two main political parties in the American elections. Electorates are not satisfied with the current political situation. Based on this investigation, about 71% think that the country has wandered off the path of the truth. Only 30% of the people would support Bush if he were to run again. Almost all of the electorates want to change the current state. They expect the coming president, to have the ability to change the orientation of American development. Based on the analyst’s viewpoint, Barack Hussein Obama and Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton, the senator of New York state, and Republican,Michael Dale Huckabee, are the three candidate with a highest ratings in the polls because they provide new ideas for American economics and politics. The American media and analysts all agree with the following statements:
1. Bush can’t be the President's for a third term. Richard Cheney, the Vice President of America, is not a candidate this year. This is the first time that the president and/or the vice president before haven’t been one of the candidates since 1928. This causes uncertainty.
2. The highest possibility for the candidates who can be next president in Democratic party is Clinton, the second best candidate is Obama. In the Republican party, the best candidate is Huckabee, but there is no big difference between other candidates’ support rates.
3. The most important thing is that most part of electorates hasn’t made a decision to support a specific candidate, so the opinion polls can’t accurately reflect the strength of the candidates.
This article was written on Jan.4th,2008, since then, the situation has changed.Huckbee has lost his lead because of the lack of support and Senator John Mcain is now the leading Republican Party candidate. However,Senator Mcain supports the war in the Iraq, Unlike the other candidates.
All things in the article are the position of the author. Basically I agree with them. The current state of America must change, not only politically, but also economically. The subprime mortgage financial crisis and the devaluation of the U.S. dollar have a big influence on American economics. Maybe it is a policy which is made by the American president, but it also has a big impact on other countries’ development, such as China, because America is China’s second largest trade partner. If America decrease imports from China, export will also decrease. The author listed some possibilities for next president, and I support the Democratic party, especially Hillary Clinton. Because they maintain piece and want to stop the war with Iraq. Their policies are good for the middle class, and level out the differences between the rich and the poor, which is the disadvantage of capitalism.
